In Belgium, we felt a strong call to engage in Christian outreach, aiming to lose ourselves so that others might come to know Christ. This mission is particularly vital in light of the growing secularism in Europe, which often overshadows the message of Gospel awareness. Our efforts include providing spiritual training to empower individuals to share their faith effectively.

With only 1.32% of indigenous populations in Western Europe having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and 1 Evangelical church for every 150,000 people, there is a greater opportunity to encounter a Christian in Iran than in Western Europe. In Belgium, the average Assembly of God church hosts only 15 people, and although 64% of the population claims to be Catholic, only 0.001% actually attend church. This trend of secularism in Europe has left society feeling hopeless, contributing to ever-increasing rates of suicide, institutionalization due to depression, alcoholism, and drug abuse, as individuals often find themselves with only their own beliefs to rely on. There is a pressing need for Christian outreach and spiritual training to promote Gospel awareness and address these growing issues.

The hope is always Jesus, and the book of Romans asks us, how will they hear without a preacher? Continental Theological Seminary is sending out students across Europe and even the world, including Belgium, to enhance Christian outreach. Students from twenty-six nations study here, and the school is preparing to double its enrollment. Moreover, it boasts an evolving online program and five extension sites in four countries, with a rising demand to establish at least ten more sites in ten other nations. We have been called to partner in this endeavor to provide spiritual training for pastors and church planters across Europe, particularly in response to the harvest that has been ripened by the Covid season amidst growing secularism in Europe. The indigenous European churches are ready to engage their communities, but they need the necessary training and preparation to effectively promote Gospel awareness.

We can all apply our Savior’s teachings to lose ourselves to our own comforts and wants for the sake of spreading the Gospel awareness to the lost, especially in places like Belgium where secularism in Europe is on the rise.
Lose Yourself to surrender time to pray. It is a spiritual battle for the nations of Europe, and intercession is needed.
Lose Yourself to some of the comforts of life, such as cutting back on a couple of coffees each week or skipping a night at the movies, to support workers who are going to the whitened harvest of souls in Europe.

When people think of Belgium, they often envision waffles, fries, chocolate, bicycles, and the European Union. This wealthy nation is rich in diversity and beauty; however, like many countries in Europe, Belgium has become increasingly influenced by secularism. Unfortunately, this shift has led to a decline in religious belief among the indigenous Europeans, resulting in a lack of Christian outreach. There is now a significant opposition to the spiritual truth that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. As a consequence, generations have grown up without Gospel awareness, living their lives without ever encountering a true Christian or having access to the hope offered by the Gospel due to the scarcity of believers around them. The need for spiritual training and engagement has never been more urgent in Belgium and beyond.

We love and appreciate financial partners who will support us monthly or with a one-time gift to invest in the future of preparing indigenous peoples to work the fields of their nations and bring a harvest of souls. The work is ongoing and so are the needs. Thank you for partnering with us.
